The Kual individual circular mold shapes a tall wheel weighing up to 2.5 kg and is used for two types of soft cheeses. On the one hand, there are creamy soft cheeses with high moisture content: Argentine cremoso (buttery or fresh), cuartirolo, Port Salut, and Saint-Paulin (Порт-Салю). On the other hand, blue cheeses (голубые сыры), which are also made in tall molds. Their perforated walls allow for even draining by gravity, without pressing, which preserves the fine curd and maintains the creamy texture; filling and unmolding are quick and clean.
